Privacy Policy
The short version
Checkbook Register keeps everything on your own computer. It has no accounts, no cloud, no advertising and no analytics. We never see your transactions, your balances, your payees or anything else you type into it.
What the app stores, and where
Your accounts, transactions, scheduled transactions, categories and settings are saved in the app's local browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) on the PC where you use it. They are not transmitted anywhere. If you set a password lock, only a salted hash of the password is stored, never the password itself.
Backup files you save, CSV exports and printed reports are ordinary files on your PC; where you keep or send them is up to you. Encrypted backups are protected with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the password you choose; without that password they cannot be read, by us or anyone else.
Bank files you import
OFX, QFX, QIF and CSV files are read entirely on your PC. The app never connects to your bank and never uploads the file.
Network use
The app is delivered as a web application from checkbook.maconapps.com and cached on your PC so it works offline. The only network requests it makes are to fetch its own program files from that address. Our host (Cloudflare) records standard, anonymous web-server logs for those requests. No transaction data is included in any request.
The Pro upgrade is sold through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles the purchase under its own privacy statement; the app only asks the Store whether the upgrade is owned.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
